Here is a fun piece of Dominican amber. There are two very interesting
items in this amber. First is a bubble
within a bubble.
It is probably an air
bubble in water (enhydro) - but it is easy to see and rather
large. Who knows what unsuspecting viruses or bacteria are still
around from 25 million years ago. Second is roach
egg case - unusual and neat

Nice sized piece of a Dominican
amber with 50 or so a female
worker ants, Hymenoptera, a Formicidae.
This death assembly must have been the result of a resin flow over
a a grouping
of female ants. There is also a nice, large fly near the middle,
Diptera, Brachycera.

A true bug,
Hemiptera. This piece happens to be a Reduviidae:
Emphicoris. These have long beaks which are used to suck plant juices
of body fluids. This is a particularly
nice true bug, in a very
large piece of amber. The
amber is about 1.25 inches square and fairly

This has a lot, in fact it is a good one for "story telling".
There is part of a spider's web, a caddis
fly, Trichoptera
and an
unusual mite,
even an ant
thrown in. Nice sized piece of amber.

Not sure on this one. The amber is good, clear and contains a beautiful
animal (maybe wood gnat, Anisopodidae). It has some exceptionally

large pseudoscorpion, Chelonethida, is located just
off center in this piece of 24 million year old Dominican amber.
There is also
a twig or
similar object that I cannot quite identify. The piece is rather
busy and

Hymenoptera ( large) and a very nice cricket, Orthoptera. You do

#22 One heck of a piece this is! Some female worker ants, Bryophyte
leaves, some unknowns - a lot. Above all though is the fact that
this piece contains 2 (yes 2 - VERY unusual to see one, much less
two) bristletails, Diplura, Thysanura. Bristletails are advanced
" wingless insects". They are the ancestor to the winged

bubble. The larger bubble probably has water. Who knows, maybe
it contains
ancient microbes that if they ever got out would wipe out the

The perfect round bit of amber that holds a planthopper, Homoptera,
Fulgoridea. The rest of the amber is perfectly clear and this animal
is the only thing in sphere. You can just start to see the pattern

at the edges. A lot of air
bubbles and some organic
debris. But the biggie here is
the ant, large (almost .5 inches) but this has two spikes on
the abdomen similar
to leaf cutters. I suspect this is quite the ant if you know

Postage for amber will usually cost $4.80 (USD) per order, anywhere in the world. There may be exceptions to this. We will get your sample
to you as soon as possible (usually mailed the same day or at worst, the next day). U.S. orders
go out by Priority Mail, overseas as Air Mail. Books are normally mailed "Media Mail", unless they are light, in which case they are mailed first class.
Overseas books are air mail unless the weight is prohibitive, in which case you will have the option of surface (ship) or paying a bit extra for air mail.
All prices are in U.S. dollars. If you are overseas and want something other than normal air mail - contact us when you make the purchase.
