Amber Listserv / what is it?

Don,

You mention "epoxy" as substance, I actually wonder what the material is. I'ts not 'pressed amber' , since a hot needle inserted usually makes it smell like burned plastic. I think it could be a two component polyester. Epoxy would be too expensive, some of the chinese pieces are quite large.
I never found 'pressed amber' or 'copal resin' with inserted insects anywere, all falsifications I have seen are bakelite or ordinary plastic.

  FYI

I have written CBS, NBC and ABC on the problem with Chinese "amber". I even sent and example of this "amber" to 20/20 telling them about the epoxy and the exorbitant shipping prices.

I can't tell you how many times I have contacted eBay.

None of them have answered my mail.

So, the bottom line is, no-one cares! So "buyer beware".

  Don
