I agree, that is such a newby to me as well. I've never seen anything like it. Perhaps Keith Luzzi might have some idea (sorry for putting you on the spot Keith). What a fascinating  inclusion!

  Good heavens, what IS that thing?  Except for the fact that it's missing a pair of legs, it looks kind of like a fat tick melded to a gastropod!  That tail is wierd!  I can't wait to see what this thing gets identified as.
