At the risk of being accused of going off topic, I present for your viewing pleasure the attached photos.
Yesterday morning I was watering some plants on my patio when a mantis poked his soaking wet head out of the foliage and glared at me. I'm always amazed how they can swivel their heads and follow you as you move. This one didn't disappoint in that respect and seemed to be giving me the evil eye as I moved in for a closer look.
I went inside and grabbed my camera, and when I returned, this is what I saw. He looked to be thoroughly enjoying his freshly caught breakfast of a large beetle. Within a half hour, the beetle was gone!
Maybe I should have dumped some plastic resin on them and tried to compete on eBay with those "honorable" amber merchants.
