  I received the following email from a Chinese seller regarding fakes on eBay.  This guy is NOT a seller of fakes, he has a good reputation.  He sells minerals, not amber.  Anyway, he asked that his name not be sent around, but I did send him an email thanking him and asking him to join our voices in petitioning eBay to do something about the Chinese fakes.  As you can see, they are not limited merely to amber, but minerals, dinosaur fossils, turquoise, jade, and other things.  I personally will not buy from a Chinese seller, and this guy is obviously feeling the heat from all the criminals out there, in that people are starting to just not buy from Chinese sellers.  I feel sorry for him, but maybe this will make him join the fight.

  Please be noticed that there are some fraud sellers from China selling some fake specimens on ebay as follows. 
  1. Racemose AGATE: this kind of specimen is MAN-MADE. It is carved from agate rough and dyed. You can see the carving marks on surface by magnifier.The real value of fake one is $15.

  2. Clear quartz point:  is also man-made. It is rebuilt from quartz powder. A natural one should have nebulous inclusion. A rebuilt one only have gaps inclusion. It has different rigidity and refrangibility with the natural quartz. The real value of fake one is $10 per LB.

  3. Citrine: All the citrine from China are heat treated. China don't have natural citine. Real citine is much expensive than others. It can be checked out by spectrograph. The real value of heated one is $20-$30 per LB.

  All of items mentioned above are man-made for show. The real value of them are much lower than the price we see in ebay. If you like, we can send you some free ones as sample and gift to prove it. 
  I am an honest mineral seller from China and I don't want you, my friend, to be cheated. Please check out the specimens from China when you purchase them. Don't hesitate to mail us if you need help. : )
  At last, please don't mention my NAME or any information to AVOID RETORSION from the seller.
