dear SUZ, Simojovel is the capitol of the county of Simojovel in Chiapas, southern Mexico. Mexican amber from the mines of Simojovel is very high quality and the area produces red, green and blue amber. It is in the mountains of the sierra madre but facesd the eastern plains. the altitude is around 700 meters, the lat I guess is 15 degrees north. Totolapa is also Chiapas amber but the quality is poor, I do find some nice enhydros and a few insects. becarefull buying enhydros from mexico, because I am sure that some people sell Totolapa amber as if it was found in Simojovel. same state, but the dealer should stipulate which deposit. Large enhydros in amber from Simojovel is rare, so the price is high. Totolapa has some quite large enhydros, but there sweet pieces are , well , SWEET. Simojovel has services and is a booming area. Totolapa is a remote, inbred mesa top community. no services, period. glen
