yes trmites with lost wings are more uncommen than termites with wings. termites that fly into the tree and loose their wings would be more commen than ones that landed on the ground. when I see them in mexico they seem to fly again when they land on a vertical surface. they loose their wings when they land on horizontal surfaces. then they head under ground or wood or rock.  I wrote about a mastoterme, the fossils are 2 inches long and they are extinct now.  glen
