Amber Listserv / cherry trees?

Okay my friends,
    If you have the time and an opinion, I'm listening.  A lady listing a 
faceted "cherry amber" necklace got this question and gave this  answer. Here's

Only once before have I heard this theory, and I laughed and assumed it was  
some kind of urban myth. Here it is, popping up again from earnest people who
