Re: Message from eBay Member

Hi Saulius/amber group,

Find enclosed a message I have been sending to bidders on Chinese fake amber:

Hi,

Just to let you know, the item you are bidding on is fake plastic and is not amber at all. You can rightfully refuse to pay for the item through ebay as the seller has listed it with completely false information.

In case you are wondering, I'm a paleontologist and amber specialist who is trying to rid ebay of Chinese sellers of fake amber.

Best regards,

Mark Collins BSc.

And below is a response from a buyer. I have been sending this essage out the past week. I will send many more such messages to frustrate the Chinese fraudsters. Which will hopefully cause them a lot of problems and money, for trying to rip people off!

Best regards,

Mark

                                Hi there
Thank you for your kind warning.
Just to let you know I have contacted the vendors and asked them about this specific point.
If they agree they are not real I can then retract the bid easilly on ebay. However will have to wait and see what they actually say in response, since I cannot now retract the bid otherwise. If they maintain it to be genuine I shall have to accept the item (if I win them) and issue a formal complaint therough ebay if they don't turn out to be the real deal.
                                I'll keep you posted
                                Cheers
                                Kay
