Hi, This a note recieved from a British scientest explaining why I was not able to get a reasonable bid on this Cretaceous collection. Just a point of interest. Ron

Hi Ron,

well, I doubt that Museum's haven't bid because they play a game. The
valuation of your collection is just ten times higher than any public
Museum can afford to spend for such a collection. That's it. The
valuation might be correct if we consider the quality of the specimens
and add their single values up, but this doesn't affect the budgets of
the Museums. We talk about a financially very neglected part of science
For a guide price of 50,000 you would have had lots of bids, I am sure.
That's how professional science works, and as we see, it doesn't work
very well since it will loose one of the most important fossil
collections.
