Yes, I had problems a couple of times sending amber to Canada.  It was marked "amber" and valued correctly.  No attempt was made at evading duties.  The USPS told me that shipments to Canada use the USPS until the border, where DHL or a private carrier takes over.  That may be the problem as well.

Last month (September 13th) I sent a parcel to Keith Crawford (Geo Paleo in the group) who resides in Medicine Hat Alberta Canada.  I sent the parcel Global Priority Mail from California.  According to Keith, he has not received the parcel and assumes it is hung up at the Canadian customs.  He was to trade me Medicine Hat amber for the pound of Chiapas I had sent him.  

Keith states that the amber he sent me was also held up at customs, but his package is being released to him shortly since he has contacted customs.  I have contacted the Canadian postal Ombudsman, so hopefully my parcel will be released to me, if in fact it is held up at customs.  

Has anyone else from the USA had problems sending into Canada?  Any suggestions?
