Amber Listserv / Prehistoric poop?

I found this chip of cognac amber while washing the latest batch today. The
turd-like shape at the bottom of the piece (about 4mm long) reminds me of
rat or gekko droppings. There's a column of bubbles gently curving upward
that appear to have emerged from the supposed dropping before the hardening
resin froze them in place.

Question: can one little piece of excrement produce so much gas?

If the object is indeed a turd, I wonder at the circumstances that led it
from the steaming bowels of some creature into a blob of fresh resin eons
ago.
