The major museums around the world have been contacted regarding the purchase of my 400 piece/ 700 inclusion 100myo amber Burmite collection. Its value was determined by two independent scientests at $500,000 and $650,000. The best offer made was $70,000 which was rediculously low ( but probably all that could be afforded by museums at this time). I was willing to sell it for a reasonable price so that it could be studied in detail by scientests, however this did not work out. The collection consists of a wide variety of spiders, beetles, bird feathers, shell, mushrooms, flowers, egg laying insects, a complete reptile claw with toenails etc. There are a lot of holotypes and first time appearences in the fossil record. Most of the specimens are unique enough that they could have a paper written on each one of them. The 400 amber inclusions are the best I found out of over 10,000 specimens. Thus they represent the finest 100 million year old amber inclusions available. The rarest will probably be sold privately to collectors, but most will be sold on ebay under seller id ronbuckley starting about 11/05/06. I want to work with the two parties who appraised the collection and take into account my thoughts on what the fair value of the pieces should be before putting them up for sale. Thanks, Ron
