Amber Listserv / 'DRUNKARD'

It looks very much like the stingless bees that I have in Dominican. One other characteristic that this specimen has that is bee-like is the lay of the wings.....flat and horizontal. This feature is tough to see as the wings are up against a fracture.

Yes, stingless bees. I thought I had one in the collection I used to manage. Never got a definite ID, though.

  Tammi,

That's how I feel. The segmentation, stubby antennae, and short legs are definitely bee-like. Have any bees been found in Baltic before?

In this latest batch of Baltic I've also a piece with a few active enhydros. I haven't heard of enhydros in Baltic before.

The body segmentation looks "bee-ish". That's a give away that it's not a fly. Someone call me on this if I'm wrong.

SUZ,

I assume you're talking about the specimen I called a "bee". Are fruit
flies rare in Baltic amber? I still think with those short, stubby legs and
bib eyes that it looks like a bee.
