I was at a show this past summer in a part of Illinois known for Bible Belt thinking. I had a couple of long discussions with people subscribing to what they call the "Young Earth" doctrine. To put it simply, they believe that all the scientific tests which determine age, from dendochronology through carbon-14 testing, thermoluminescence, magnetics, etc. are all either ill conceived, scientifically invalid, or inaccurate for various other reasons. It is a very neat tautological argument. Because they think that all the science is wrong, they dont bother to even consider such research so in their minds there is nothing to discuss.

Question: how does a Christian reconcile amber that has been shown thru scientific analysis to be millions of years old with the Biblical age of the earth of around 6000 years? Are we to reject the findings of modern science?

Non-Christians please feel free to toss in your 2 cent's worth too. I'm keeping a very open mind about this matter and would like to hear from people of all faiths.
