Subject: Amber Listserv / MUSHROOM

Hi, George Poinar and I have  been waiting a long time to release the imformation on this mushroom, and can finally do so.It is an important piece of amber because:

1.It is the oldest found mushroom in the world.

2. It is the first found in the fossil record of a parasite living on something with another parasite living on the parasite.

If it were not for the efforts of Jim Davis to make Burmite available this fantastic discovery would never have come to light. The specimen came to me as an unknown. I thought it was a mushroom and had George poinar make a positive identification on it .

We are awaiting releasenow on some beautiful flowers, an unknown beetle and a beautifully colored grasshopper.

.

Regards, Ron
