The devil is in the details... chess set done right will fetch good money.
Mr. Podzorski of Helena Amber from Sopot sold one set last Amberif. If
memory serves me right it was no larger than 24" square with board done of
translucent light color amber over gold foil and the other squares cognac.
Pieces were hand carved, aprox. 3" tall. Exquisite! It sold for 25 thousand
Euro.
