Hi Andy,
thanks for your good wishes,
Theres not to much info on the Victorian amber, apparently it has been found in small amounts in coal seams not shore if any inclusions are present, the stuff in quiet fragmented also. It is documented but dont think studied much.
good wishes Dale

Congrats Dale! It's always very tough to be the first one in your area. Scepticism and doubt surrounds us. This line from the article you posted intrigues me:
"Apparently (the authority) sent it right back, saying: 'There is no amber in Australia, so don't bother me again,"' says paleontologist Sue Hand, from the University of NSW.
I've been basically told the same thing by others who consided themselves an "authority"; that there is no amber in Borneo (but they did so politely). Anyhow, in Jean Langenheim's "Plant Resins", Australian amber (and Borneo amber) are mentioned (figure 4.2 and Appendix 4): Pliocene era amber in Victoria, Australia and Miocene/Pliocene/undetermined Tertiary in Borneo. I had been meaning to ask you about that Victoria amber the last time I wrote you, but it slipped my mind. Any insights into that?
Andy

Hi,
interesting conversations lately!
attaching a link to the Australian amber page...we should all have some scientific analyses of the amber within the next 3 years of study.
best wishes Dale
