Amber Listserv / Antique amber valuation

I have left a voice mail message and sent an email to a friend in
Alexandria, VA who has had antique amber, hair, tortiseshell and
mother of pearl items valued for insurance purposes by a store that
specializes in estate items. I know they are in Alexandria and are
close to the Trader Joe's market, because my friend, (whom I had
introduced to Trader Joe's while she was vacationing with me, here in
California) was surprised to see one close to her home.
She travels quite a bit and is not answering her phone but hopefully
she will check in and call me.

My sister has had some of our family items valued by an estate
jewelry specialist in Baltimore but she and her husband are in
Greece, visiting his family, so she isn't available either. They
both worked in D.C. prior to retiring but always lived in Maryland.

The fee for valuing items such as this is never very steep. When
getting a certificate of value for insurance, you do get what you pay
for and I would advise going to a reputable dealer - many of the
estate specialists are also GIA certified and I would accept that as
an excellent recommendation.
