Amber Listserv / 3.5kg dark orange amber

Yuppers Johnno thanks to your generous patronage, Poland has the largest
chunk of orange amber! I remember that 5kg piece well...nights of working
till the wee hours with toothbrushes, q-tips (for removing the crust in the
crannies), quite a few sheets of sandpaper and almost 2 bottles of polish
were used. I thoroughly enjoyed doing that piece and bringing the resin
flow-lines to a shine. There's something very soothing with working on
amber...and the satisfaction is immense, much more intense than anything
I've ever done before.  I'm very happy that others can view the piece!

The 3.5kg chunk is from the same batch, and is destined for a collector.
It'll be on public display too. I'm most comfortable letting go of these big
chunks when I know the new owners won't be chopping them up for cabochons
etc.

I have a chunk of very creamy white amber that's almost 20kg. Am estimating
a loss of about 1.5 to 2kg after the crust is removed and it's sanded. Will
work on it, time & energy permitting. This baby'll look like a 3 foot
obelisk when done!
