I remember seeing a small bracelet of genuine green Baltic which was from Latvia.  It was a darker yet transluscent green with small dark dots.  Rare.

  The mass produced amber and "amber" from the Baltic which is supposedly green is treated in one way or another to produce the green, from painting the back side to heat treatment, and I am sure John knows more.

  Dominican and Mexican (Chiapan) amber often glows green in strong sunlight while looking directly at the piece, not through it (reflected light).  Looking through the piece reveals what I call its base color(s).  These ambers also fluoresce under longwave UV light, often in green/blue colors. 

  I tend to believe that these colors in reflected light as well as under UV light are due to the excitation of the molecules within the amber.  The chemical processes by which this occurs have not been researched enough as far as I know.

The origin in this case is the same as the blue amber: heat through forest fire, volcanic activity or other reasons which have not yet been discovered.   But sometimes they are mixed with black. Then, the green became so strong that it is not only florescent anymore. We make beads from it.

Of course each "amber" is a different animal.
The green in Dominican is not the green in Mexican which almost looks like the green (natural) of Baltic.
I do not mean the fluorescent green- a green thru-out green, sort of "plant" green color.
