I just remember that someone posted that researchers had been using x-rays or something for looking inside opaque amber specimens.? Dont remember the specifics.

Adam, who was it that conducted the other testing with opaque amber?? Someone from the group will step up with some answers for you.

Tammi,

?

The photos show the big piece for sale.? It is not in my possession.? If someone buys it, it will be sent from the UK to me and then to the buyer.

?

The color is kind of off in the pics, basically it is a kind of brownish with other colors mixed in.? Opaque, but if it was sliced/slabbed then it would probably be transparent.?

?

My understanding is that there is no matrix, only pure amber.

?

I FORGOT TO MENTION that one side was hand polished.?

?

I am kind of hoping that someone will want to examine these specimens I have.? Even though they are opaque (the nuggets), by using the new techniques for looking into cloudy amber, maybe that would work on these.? But I dont know who could perform such an examination for me.

Adam, what else is within the matrix?? Woody fibers, what?? It looks very dense and even irridescent.? Really different for sure!

Hello everybody,

?

I have recently obtained several specimens of Cretaceous amber from the United Kingdom.? This amber comes from the Hastings?fossil beds of Sussex, England.? It dates from approximately?140 million years ago.? My understanding is that this amber is extremely rare.? If there are fossil inclusions in these pieces, they may very well be new to science.

?

I have in my possession 3 amber nuggets of 1.3 cm, 1.5 cm, and 1.8 cm, as well as several smaller amber pieces.? Color ranges from a cocoa brown to more yellow colors, and one specimen is red, at least its oxidized coating is red.? The smaller pieces are clear, but the nuggets are opaque.?

?

I am excited about these specimens due to their rarity and possible inclusions.?

?

But even more exciting is this:

?

My contact has asked me to act as?the agent for a incredible specimen he has for sale.? It is also from the same Hastings locality.? It measures 3.0 inches X 2.4 inches X 0.7 inches at its longest dimensions.? Weighs about 50 grams.? It is unique.?For this type of amber a specimen of this size is extremely rare.

?

The price is $2000.00 USD. or best offer.? If anyone is interested, I would suggest you contact me immediately, dont hesitate.? The price is negotiable within reason.

?

Photos are attached herein.

?

Thanks!

?

Adam Spiegel?
