Amber Listserv / Discovery Show - Scientists hope to reverse-engineer a chicken into a dinosaur

I saw it. It puts forward a very intriguing idea....retro-engineer a dinosaur by playing with the DNA of a modern bird. Way easier than trying to build one from fragments of 70 myo DNA. I can hardly wait! But hold on a second....how will we know which genes to turn off? Will the result be a real dinosaur or merely what we BELIEVE a dinosaur looked like?

(For the layperson Jack Horner was the basis for Dr. Alan Grant in Jurassic Park) He used to be Donald Baird's preparator at Princeton and is now at the Museum of the Rockies studying T-Rex and maiasaur.
