John, the photos are amazing!? The amber lenses remind me of a contact I had back in 2000.??A guy who was a student at a university in Amman, Jordan wrote to tell me of his uncle's farm in Irbid and a find there.? They were digging a well and about 250-300 feet down they hit Kurnub sandstone interspersed with amber lenses.? He wanted someone to come and validate the find and help him verify that it was Cretaceous amber.? I tried to put him in contact with Wolfgang Weitschat at the time, as he was excavating at a quarry in Jordan.? I have no idea what came of that, I was just reminded of it by looking at your photos.??It's so amazing to see amber basically falling out of the soil of a roadcut!!!? Yes, we are ALL jealous, and the country is beautiful.?

This is Lebanon's geology 101- bottom of the valley Jurassic, higher up Cretaceous and the horizontal band of exposed rocks even younger.
If I remember correctly, the bottom of this valley is a mine field.
