Amber Listserv / IDENTIFICATION

John,

I can see some of the venation and it appears more stonefly-like than termite-like.

Anyone else care to weigh in?

Tom

  Hi Tom,

I am trying to look at wing veination, and stone flies have coarse veins, far apart and running along the wing. Termites have many, many delicate lines that look very different.
I can not see the veins here- can you?
But it looks like few horizontal lines which would go with stonefly. Also wing shape.

    John,

Here's another shot that is a lower magnification but may more sharply show details. I didn't realize the specimen had that much white schmutz ( highly technical term) on it. The square head, large eyes and the fact that the abdomen is nearly as long as the wings still has me thinking stonefly vs. termite. Thanks for looking.

That could well be it. I can not see many features clear in this picture...

All you entomologists.......please put your thinking caps on and help me identify this insect in Baltic amber. I make it a stone fly. All comments welcome. Thanks.
